Global Grant from Rotary International for Vision Care Project

Rotary Club of Manila, led by President Hermie Esguerra, in partnership with DEPED, Physicians for Peace, Rotary Clubs of Singapore and Kowloon East obtained Global Grant 2344386 from Rotary International for its Rotary Vision Care Project.

It will provide children, parents, and educators in fifteen schools with complimentary eye testing and eyeglasses, a cost-effective way of identifying those with visual impairment.

One out of 20 preschoolers and one out of every four pupils in the Philippines has an eye problem. For early-age children, the condition often goes unnoticed. This makes vision screening an important tool to prevent and treat visual impairment for this age group.

This project hopes to provide access to continuous eye care and sight preservation services such as eye examinations, vision screenings and myopia/astigmatism treatment, and follow-up services.

PDG and Physicians for Peace President Lyne Alano Abanilla and RCMers Albert Singson Alday, Aries Balanay, Teddy Garcia, Ramy Chawhan attended.
