WOMEN’S HEALTH
Your Health is Your Wealth: PFPP’s Women’s Health Screening Project
Cancer remains a leading cause of death worldwide and in the Philippines. Recognizing this alarming reality, Physicians for Peace Philippines (PFPP) has launched a groundbreaking initiative to protect the health of women: the Women’s Health Screening Project.
A Legacy of Healing and Prevention
PFPP has a long history of providing vital healthcare services, from helping amputees regain mobility to restoring sight and providing hearing care. Now, we’re expanding our focus to preventive care with this new project, offering free screenings for breast and cervical cancer. Early detection is key to effective treatment and better outcomes.
Empowering Women, One Screening at a Time
The Women’s Health Screening Project not only offers access to vital services but also empowers women to take charge of their health. By prioritizing prevention, we aim to reduce the burden of cancer in the Philippines and improve the lives of countless women.
Launching in Naga City: A Celebration of Girl Power
On October 11, 2019, International Day of the Girl Child, PFPP officially launched the Women’s Health Screening Project in Naga City. In partnership with Rotary International District 3820 and the Rotary Club of Naga, we hosted a comprehensive program, including educational lectures on women’s health and free screenings for breast and cervical cancer.
Reaching Women, Including Those with Disabilities
The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including health workers, women of reproductive age, and women with disabilities from surrounding towns. We believe that every woman deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of her abilities.
Training and Resources for Health Workers
In addition to screenings, PFPP provided training for local health workers on how to conduct breast and cervical cancer screenings effectively. We also distributed essential vitamins to participants, promoting overall health and well-being.
Looking to the Future: Expanding Our Reach
The launch of the Women’s Health Screening Project in Naga City was a resounding success. Many Rotary Clubs have expressed interest in bringing the project to their communities, and we are excited to expand our reach even further.
Our Deepest Gratitude
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the towns of Naga, Tigaon, Goa, Ocampo, Sagñay, and San Jose, as well as the Provincial Health Office of Camarines Sur and Bicol Medical Center for their unwavering support. We are also grateful for our partnership with Rotary International District 3820 and the Rotary Club of Naga.
