The Philippines is home to many remote and underserved communities with limited access to essential healthcare. For years, Physicians for Peace (PFP) has stepped up to bring life-changing medical services to these areas, providing access to medical healthcare such as visual, auditory, and prosthetic needs. With the recent success of Physicians for Peace Philippines in providing adequate healthcare services along with their unwavering passion to assist the needy garners a whole lot of attention from companies, groups, establishments, etc. who align with the goals of PFPP. Their missions, however, would not be possible without the vital support of these partners and sponsors like the Manila Elks who have been partners with PFPP for many years.
Manila Elks Lodge No. 761 has a long history of contributing to the welfare of Filipino communities. By funding and supporting PFPP’s missions, they play a pivotal role in expanding the reach of medical services to those who need it most. This partnership ensures that people across the country, regardless of their location or economic situation, can receive specialized healthcare then go on and live healthier lives.
Physicians For Peace Philippines has a wide array of services and programs offered to different communities with a few being their Visual Care Program which provides assessments to test people’s color blindness and visual acuity, their Hearing Health Care Program which provides audiological assessments to those in possible need of hearing aids and/or referrals, and of course their Walking Free Program which provides wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs/arms to those who require assistance for their disabilities. One specific instance in which the wheelchair provision was put in place was during a program that was arranged by PFPP and Ms. Jessa Marmol from the Cerebral Palsy Epilepsy Family Awareness Support Group in partnership with Latter Day Saints Charities and Manila Elks Lodge 761. This involved the provision of wheelchairs to 45 children who were diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy in Pasig City.
With that being said, Physicians for Peace Philippines was able to conduct a multitude of projects and missions with these contributions some examples include a mission in San Andres, Quezon City last April 2023 revolving around visual care, prostheses, and cervical screening programs for children and women in that area and another mission conducted in Caramoan, Camarines Sur specifically in a remote island of Lahuy around March 2024 with the sake of delivering vision and hearing wellness to elementary children and teachers in Gogon Elementary School. These are but just some of the many medical missions conducted by the team spearheaded by the Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Lyne A. Abanilla, all under the contributions brought about by the Manila Elks Lodge 761 who continuously offer their generous help to make all of these possible.
All Glory to God that all these were made possible by Him as the Physicians for Peace Philippines along with its principal partners and sponsors like the Manila Elks Lodge 761 will continue to offer their services and reach even the most remote and inaccessible locations to provide adequate healthcare missions to which all people regardless of stature deserves.
